Nokia 888: Bendable mobile phone

by @ 2:50 pm. Filed under Gadgets

Thought the concept phone I wrote about here was cool? Then have a look at the Nokia 888 Concept, which is a real eye opener. The phone has a flexible form factor, which basically means you can flex and bend it whatever way you like, or even wear it around your wrist. Just as the Yanko phone it uses a full size touchscreen and is supposed to contain a liquid battery to enable the bendability.

200 Gigabyte iPod Nano

by @ 11:11 pm. Filed under Gadgets

Think the iPod Nano sucks, because you won’t fit all of your MP3 in that tiny memory? Well, how about an iPod Giga then? This article describes how you can attach a 200 Gigabyte hard disk drive to the tiny device, which, as a matter of fact, is not so tiny any more, after successful installation of the disk. There is another downside to this mod: Apparently the Nano’s battery was not designed for powering a grown up hard disk, so it will shut down after a few minutes of music.

Mouse with a fish

Switzerland manufacturer Pat Says Now have an interesting assortment of custom computer mice. Being a fan of Japanese culture, I especially like their Koi Mouse, which features a tiny aquarium with a plastic ornamental fish at the bottom of the mouse. I’m sure the Body Mouse will have a very unique feel to it as well *g*

Record video to your PSP

PSP movie recorder
With this movie recorder gadget, you can record from any video source directly to a Memory Stick or Compact Flash Type 1/2 card for PSP or iPOD Video without requiring any additional hard- or software. While it seems rather convenient, I’m not sure if I’d want to shell out the $157.97 for this toy. When you got a PC, USB cable and PSP Video 9, you will only need this if you are a lazy nerd.

Gadgets on Yahoo Shoposphere

by @ 7:09 pm. Filed under Gadgets, Web Tech

Yahoo launched Shoposphere two days ago, an interesting platform where everyone can build picklists of items. I made my first picklist with things I own and like. Maybe I’m gonna build a wishlist next. Many popular picklists are about gadget stuff, for example Techie Gadget Essentials, Gadget Dude’s Gadget Mania or Best iPod Accessoires.

4 Gigabyte on a single DIMM

by @ 1:19 pm. Filed under Gadgets

Not only USB Memory Keys are growing - RAM sizes are too. No Apacer is the first to put 4 Gigabyte of memory on a single DIMM module, which has been designed especially for AMD Socket 940 high-end servers and workstations. Actually I don’t know what these machines are built like, but the module looks pretty big, and I doubt it would fit into every regular PC case.

Nokia is about to launch a special black version of their premium 8800 model, exclusive for Russia and Belarus. It seems like the russian market is very important, as there is a huge interest in high end mobile phones as status symbols.

Nanophone
Yanko Design has a feature on an impressive concept phone, that gives a glance at how mobile communication might look like in a few years. The whole phone is covered by a TFT-matrix, which also displays buttons and other widgets. If you want to see video on that phone, the movie can be displayed on the whole display. The phone will support GSM networks (900, 1800, 1900) as well as the 3G networks.

8 Gigs for your pocket

by @ 12:57 pm. Filed under Gadgets

8 Gigabyte Memory Stick
There sure is an ever increasing demand for memory on all platforms.
With their new 8 Gigabyte USB key, aptly named »Jumbo Stick«, the japanese company Transcend sets the record straight for the flashdisk market. I wonder if these flash memory thingies will soon have more capacity than the average desktop machine’s hard drive.
